On May 1, San Bernardino Valley College launched Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month with an inspiring keynote from San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran.
Recently-elected Mayor Tran is the city’s first Asian-American mayor and the first Vietnamese American woman to be elected mayor of a U.S. city. At the event, she shared her family’s story. “We want a safe place to live, to raise our families to make sure we are all healthy and thriving,” she said.
